THE EQUAL ARCHITECT - A SYMPOSIUM

We at Missing in Architecture are hosting a symposium on Friday 8th March 2019 at the Art Club, Bath Street, Glasgow, called the 'Equal Architect'.

The aim of the symposium is to enhance awareness and understanding of the significance of female architects within the education system and the profession and to provoke discussions to create a more equal environment for all whilst celebrating the work of past, present and future generations of architects.

We have a fantastic line up of speakers coming to talk on Friday 8th and have Patty Hopkins opening the symposium on the evening of Thursday 7th March with a guest lecture at the Reid Lecture Theatre, Glasgow School of Art.

We'd be delighted if you could join us for the event. You can book your tickets via eventbrite at the following link

For The Architecture Fringe 2018 we present Tracings of Home. In this project we invite people to think about a time when they are older, what might your home of your future be like? What will you take from your past to your future? In this drop in session participants will contribute to a living memory box that will be used as research into the key elements that inform the designs of homes for all our futures.

We would like to thank everyone who came along to the opening event at the Doublet on Thursday, it was a fantastic turn out and a selection of our provocations and responses can now be found on our website, www.missinginarchitecture.net (more will follow!).

We are excited to invite you the next in our  'Another Perspective' series which is entitled 'On the Margins' where we will be screening Chris Leslie's brilliant short documentary film 'The Bird Man of Red Road' and inviting discussion and drawing responses to this moving, provactive piece.

Come along and join us with drinks from the bar and further opportunities to discuss what is missing in architecture.

M.i.A is a community of enquirers who want to promote creativity and action within the profession, to fill in the gaps in architecture.

Another Perspective is a student initiated project founded in response to a gap in the curriculum in architectural education.  In collaboration with M.i.A we will be hosting a series of workshops that aim to give voice and platform to the perspectives that are so often unheard, missed or disregarded. These events will provide opportunities to respond to shared experiences, the responses created aim to highlight the value in differing perspectives as a tool for design.

Please find attached our invite, feel free to pass this on to anyone you'd like to invite.  Or print it off and add to your fridge collection!

We can't wait to see you there!
